Christmas 2009

Christmas in our house was very, very busy this year!  I'm pretty sure I say this every year, but man did it FLY by!  I can't believe it's New Years Eve already.  What an amazing year 2009 was!  Here are some pictures from Christmas in our apartment.  Carrie was still living with us during Christmas so I didn't pull out all of my decorations, you know, so we still had room to walk around ;)

Our "getting out of debt" tree, as Timmy calls it.  It's so little and scrawny.

Our new additions from Marshall Field's this year

The ornament above was made by TT for us and we love it!  It still smells like cinnamon!!
Below, some of our loot ;)
[Yes, that is a snuggie.  It's from Dan, my brother, not my father-in-law.  Enough said.]

...and blogger is no longer allowing me to edit in between photos.  We had our Nativity out [the REASON for the SEASON, folks], new stockings [because our stockings from last year have vanished] and of course, the Christmas moose.

Because you can't say it too many times, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
[thank you for ignoring the clutter in the photos above]

Surprise, Surprise

This year Tim and I had budgeted some money so we could buy each other nice gifts this year.  He pulled off a "Christmas Miracle" and got the boots I've wanted for years.  We did not a Christmas budget high enough to get these at regular price plus the other goodies he got for me... so thank you to a certain elf at Journeys ;)  ...and thank you Timbo.  Here are a few shots of Mr. Trouble modeling them for you, enjoy yourself!

Saying Goodbye....

...is not hard to do.  Well folks, we're really doing it.  One week before Christmas Timmy and I paid off his student loan.  Wow, does that feel good!!  Now we are two weeks away from paying off my car... yahoo!!  Along with both of those little miracles we paid for our entire Christmas with cash!  God is good!!

We started FPU in August 2008 and after a couple of hurdles, patience, devotion and just saying "no" to so many things we've wanted to say "YES!" to, we are finally seeing the fruits of our labor and getting our butts out of debt.

Thank you to everyone who's encouraged us along the way and those that are doing this with us!!

Burkey vs. Burkey

We had our 2nd annual gingerbread house contest last week at Andrew and Ann's.  Last year Andrew & Ann won, this year Tim & Kim won.  Holler!  Technically, it was more like Andrew vs. Tim.  Ann and I were both out of the competition at one time or another.... I was either holding Luke or she was feeding him.  So high five to Timbo on bring home the championship.  Who knows what next year will bring!!

So blogger isn't letting me edit in between pictures... boo!  The first house is ours and the second house with the creepy oreo snow man is A & A's.  I'm giving a thumbs up after everyone agreed we won.  2010, bring it!!

Marshall Field's

I cannot believe our annual Marshall Field's trip has come and gone already!  We had a smaller group this year [Betsy & Sheryl were greatly missed!] and managed to have an amazing time! I've been doing this my entire life, I've only missed one year out of, well, many.
Waiting for Santa

Mr. Trouble wasn't too happy about this...

 My mom, sister and nephew

Most of the girls from our family

The tree this year was gorgeous.  We sat right underneath it.

The princess came and we all made a wish.  My picture wasn't taken... always neglected ;)

counting down the days until next year....

I don't even know where I left off........

Welcome back to all things Burkey, Tim & Kim division.  I don't even remember where I left off.  T is at church so I'm blogging.  November was such a blah month.  Thanksgiving has come and gone.  Like I said before, the day before Turkey day was bittersweet.  It was awesome seeing my ENTIRE family [minus a few] but sad at the same time.  Life.

I had 'great success' with my pecan surprise this year... nothing like last year.  Thanks to my mom we had everything we needed to make them.

 The after

I think Tim liked it  :)

We spent the afternoon at my parents with my family, Tim's parents, Adam and Hans.   I never took my camera out while we were at my parents... boo.  I was probably spending all of my time with Jeremy.
Tim woke up at 3:30 AM on "black Friday" and met his brothers at Wal-Mart to buy a blu-ray player.  It's for his birthday [must remember come January that we already bought his gift, even though we're already using it... so hard].  Then we spent the rest of the day with the Burkeys.

Cousins!!

We usually celebrate Ann's birthday at our Burkey Thanksgiving, since it's right around the corner.  She doesn't like the attention but she does get the guys to do random things as her gift.  We all remember last year.  This year she went a more calm direction, well for everyone except Adam.  He's been growing a beard for months and she asked him to shave it for her birthday.  He did.  Enjoy!

The before, during and after

Saturday we met Jen Hosey for lunch and shopping.  I wish that girl lived closer, her visits are such a breath of fresh air!!  Then Saturday we decorated our apartment and Sunday we rested.  I love Thanksgiving weekend!!

more to come!!
