hello, hello!!

Yes. We are alive. Yes. We have neglected our blog. Well, I have. Just wanted to let you know are alive. Here are a few highlights from the past few weeks:

We've been hitting up the farmers market almost every weekend.
We've celebrated our first anniversary.
We're really into puzzles.
We went to Chicago.
We've been attacking P90X like crazy the last couple of weeks.
Amy and Graig came to visit recently... and Jeremy too!!
We've decided not to go to California in the fall... :(
I think I've single-handedly turned P90X into P180X ;)
We finally made it to the beach.
I went to Shipshewana last weekend with Ann and got some good finds.
My dad is doing much better!

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of it now. Time to get ready for church!

I concur

An open letter to President Obama

By Lou Pritchett

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your li fe you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Room 379

Hola! Long time no blog. Life has been a little crazy around here... to put it mildly. Let's rewind to last Wednesday. I came home from work with a killer headache. Tim made dinner for the two of us then left to meet Matt to play tennis. I fell asleep on the couch while he was getting ready to leave. The next thing I know my cell phone is ringing. I saw that it was my mom; usually we talk right after work, if it's anytime before or after that I always assume something has happened to my grandparents... so I answered the phone only being half awake, still laying down. She told me she was following an ambulance with Dad in it to Memorial Hospital. At first I said, "Okay" and then all of a sudden I realized I don't know whose dad we're talking about, so I asked "MY DAD?!?!" That set the tears rolling for both of us. I quickly got off the phone and called Tim right away. I couldn't get a hold of him so I frantically called Matt. Who knows what I said to him but he was able to track down Tim and send him home, so a big thank you to Parker. We headed to the hospital around 7:00 and we were there until 1:00 a.m. It turns out my dad had a massive heart attack and it's a miracle he survived it.

Dan, Amy, Graig and Jeremy all came up late Wednesday night. We spend Thursday hanging out in my dad's room [not helping him rest much]. I'm pretty sure we broke most of the rules while we visited... way to many visitors at one time, only use certain bathrooms, no visitors before 10:00 or after 8:00, anyone under 2 had to be pre-approved, etc. We all chipped in and worked on a puzzle while we were there... never finished it :(
Here's the board where we played a lot of hang man...
Amy's heart was still up there the next day

Sleepy Baby... heads up - don't accidentally wake Dan up :)

My dad is finally home from the hospital and doing a little better... It will be a slow recovery.
Thank you so much for your prayers and words of encouragement!
